Between 6 AM and 9 AM, showers were recorded across key localities, including the Airport area, Railway Station Square, Acharya Vihar, Janpath, Nayapalli, and Khandagiri in Bhubaneswar, as well as Barabati Stadium, Mangalabag, Chaudwar Road, and Nayabazar in Cuttack.

Despite the sudden downpour, no major waterlogging or traffic disruptions were reported. Commuters, however, were caught off guard by the unexpected change in weather.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the rainfall is linked to a low‑pressure system over north coastal Odisha.

The forecast suggests light to moderate showers, thunderstorms, and gusty winds in Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Cuttack, and Bhubaneswar over the next two days.

Temperatures are expected to dip slightly, providing relief from the rising mercury. Scattered rainfall is likely to continue, though without significant disruptions.

Authorities have advised residents to remain alert and take precautions during thunderstorms.
