Bhubaneswar, June 19(OT Webdesk): In a groundbreaking move to strengthen Odisha’s knowledge infrastructure, Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi has announced that every block under her parliamentary constituency will soon house a modern library.
The initiative, launched under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS), is backed by a Rs 53 lakh budget.
These state-of-the-art libraries will blend traditional reading spaces with digital learning tools, promoting a vibrant reading culture across urban and rural communities.
Sarangi highlighted that the project aims to invest in future generations by nurturing inclusive intellectual development.
“This is not just an investment in infrastructure, but in the minds of future generations,” she said.
Each library will feature regionally tailored collections, integrating Odia literature with globally relevant content to ensure accessibility and cultural relevance.
Educators and civil society members have widely welcomed the initiative, calling it a much-needed step toward bridging educational disparities and enriching community learning experiences.
The libraries are expected to act as community hubs, providing physical books, digital content, and local learning programs to ignite curiosity and support lifelong learning.
As Odisha pushes for grassroots-driven development, this initiative reflects a shift toward sustainable, knowledge-based growth across the state.
