Law and Order in Focus: Odisha CM’s High-Level Review Sparks Action

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi convened a high-level review meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan today to assess the state’s law and order situation.

In light of recent unrest in Cuttack and the tragic murder of lawyer Pitabas Panda in Berhampur, the CM issued firm directives to the police administration.

Majhi emphasised the need for heightened vigilance across Odisha, warning that motivated groups are attempting to disrupt the state’s peaceful image.

He instructed senior police officials to maintain strict surveillance on suspicious individuals and troublemakers.

The CM acknowledged the return to normalcy in Cuttack, where curfew has been lifted and internet services restored.

However, he cautioned against complacency and ordered continued force deployment and patrolling in sensitive zones.

Stressing the importance of community engagement, Majhi urged police to sustain dialogue with local leaders to preserve harmony in the “City of Brotherhood.”

Expressing grief over the murder of Pitabas Panda, a respected lawyer and social worker, Majhi called for an immediate investigation and exemplary punishment for the perpetrators.

Senior officials, including Prakash Mishra, Manoj Ahuja, Satyabrata Sahu, Y.B. Khurania, and Sashwat Mishra, were present at the meeting.
