Large Number of BJD Workers Join BJP in Sukinda
Bhubaneswar: Several leaders and workers from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) switched their allegiance to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during a ceremony at Kaliapani in the Sukinda constituency of Jajpur District on Sunday. Odisha Cooperation Minister Pradeep Baliram Samanta welcomed the new members with caps and shawls.
The BJP emphasised its commitment to strengthening its grassroots organisation in Odisha under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. The minister stated, “The ‘double-engine’ government has propelled development in Odisha.”
He pointed out that the state had lagged behind during the previous BJD-led government while addressing a large gathering in Kaliapani. “Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India has made significant progress in the last 11 years. However, Odisha has fallen behind because the central government’s schemes were not effectively implemented here in the state,” he added.
The minister also mentioned that, according to the BJP’s ‘Sankalp Patra’ (election manifesto), all promises and schemes are being implemented in the state. He concluded, “To achieve the mission of a ‘Viksit Bharat,’ we also need to create a ‘Bikashita Odisha’ by 2036.”
