Koraput: Trailer Catches Fire After Plunging from Sunki Ghat, Driver & Helper Escape Unhurt
A major accident was reported on National Highway 26 at Sunki Ghat near Jodimadali in Koraput district when a trailer lost control while negotiating a sharp curve.
The heavy vehicle plunged down the ghat and immediately caught fire, sending plumes of smoke into the sky.
Fortunately, both the driver and helper managed to escape unharmed, narrowly avoiding the flames. The trailer, however, was completely gutted in the blaze.
The Potangi Fire Service team rushed to the spot and worked tirelessly to douse the fire, preventing it from spreading further and ensuring the safety of commuters along the busy highway.
Traffic movement was temporarily disrupted as locals gathered at the accident site to witness the rescue and firefighting operations.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident. Preliminary reports suggest overspeeding and loss of control on the steep ghat road as possible causes of the mishap.
