Koraput Teen Dies in Hyderabad Construction Mishap, Exposing Child Labour Crisis

A 16‑year‑old boy from Odisha’s Koraput district, Mangala Khara, tragically lost his life in Hyderabad while working as a migrant labourer.

Mangala, who had just completed his matriculation exams at Baligaon High School, left home during Holi without informing his family and travelled with a friend to Hyderabad.

He secured work with a private construction company, Mudi Builder, in the Mijampeta district.

On Sunday morning, while engaged in centring work, Mangala slipped and fell, dying instantly.

His family, devastated by the news, sought assistance from Baipariguda police.

After the post‑mortem in Hyderabad, his body will be brought back to his native village.

This incident underscores the persistent issue of child labour and unsafe migration from Odisha.

Despite government claims of reduced migration, minors continue to be pushed into hazardous jobs due to a lack of local opportunities, raising urgent questions about enforcement and protection measures.
