Koraput Ration Scam: Biometric Proof, But No Millet Delivered
Kutrabeda, Koraput (OT webdesk) — In a troubling revelation from Odisha’s tribal heartland, hundreds of families in Kutrabeda village allege they were denied millet rations despite completing official procedures under government welfare schemes.
Villagers, including Pralhad Saraka, Adana Saraka, and Bhaskarao Sarak, claimed they signed distribution slips and underwent biometric verification, yet received no Mandia (millet).
The local control dealer allegedly made repeated excuses, while official records falsely indicated successful delivery.
This isn’t an isolated incident. Locals point to earlier rice distribution frauds in the same panchayat, suggesting a pattern of systematic siphoning. Many suspect collusion between ration dealers and officials.
Kutrabeda Panchayat Executive Officer Ramachandra Meleka denied any wrongdoing.
However, Bandhugaon Block Development Officer Meenati Jagdev assured a thorough investigation: “I will personally look into the matter and ensure supply gaps are addressed.”
The allegations have sparked outrage among tribal communities, raising urgent questions about transparency and accountability in welfare distribution
