Koraput Police Bust Major Drug Network Near Odisha–Andhra Border
In a high‑intensity jungle raid near the Odisha–Andhra Pradesh border, Koraput Police seized 1,800 litres of hashish oil valued at approximately Rs 200 crore and 1,000 kg of ganja worth Rs 5 crore.
The operation targeted a temporary manufacturing unit near Jholaput Reservoir under Padua police station limits.
Officers trekked through dense terrain and used boats to avoid detection, dismantling the illicit setup and confiscating equipment.
In a separate operation under Nandpur police station, two interstate smugglers from Haryana were arrested with 1,143 kg of ganja hidden in pickup trucks.
Four accused—including suppliers from Semiliguda and receivers from Haryana—were taken into custody.
DIG SWR Koraput confirmed these actions as part of intensified crackdowns on interstate drug networks, noting the challenges posed by remote locations and mobile manufacturing units.
Investigations are ongoing to trace wider links across state borders.
