Koraput PARAB‑2025 Showcases Tribal Heritage and Development Push
Koraput witnessed a vibrant celebration of tribal culture as Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi attended the fourth evening of the National Level Tribal Festival PARAB‑2025.
The event, held at the Saheed Laxman Naik Stage, highlighted the district’s rich traditions, iconic products, and growing prominence in sustainable agriculture.
Majhi paid floral tributes to freedom fighter Saheed Laxman Naik and praised Koraput’s cultural identity, citing globally recognised landmarks like the Ganta Ghar clock tower and unique products such as locally grown coffee, black rice, and Kotpad sarees.
He emphasised Koraput’s leadership in millet cultivation under the Shri Anna Abhiyan, dedicating nearly 72,000 hectares to the national grain.
In a major development push, the Chief Minister inaugurated 16 projects worth Rs 24 crore and laid foundation stones for 70 more valued at Rs 521 crore, totalling Rs 545 crore in investments.
These projects span irrigation, healthcare, small-scale industries, hostels, bridges, roads, Mission Shakti Bhawan, forest protection committee buildings, and classrooms.
Majhi urged farmers to diversify livelihoods with allied activities like fish farming, goat rearing, poultry, and duck farming.
He reiterated his government’s commitment to “development with inheritance,” ensuring growth while safeguarding tribal traditions.
The festival also saw the release of a commemorative jacket and promotional video. Ministers and MPs lauded Koraput’s tribal heritage, noting that PARAB has become Odisha’s second-largest festival after Baliyatra, elevating the state’s cultural stature nationally and internationally.
PARAB‑2025 continues to foster social awakening, unearth hidden talents, and unite communities in celebration of tribal ethos.
