Koraput Authorities Uproot Cannabis Worth ₹4.5 Crore in Major Raid
In a massive crackdown on illegal cannabis cultivation, authorities in the Koraput district carried out Operation Green Clean and destroyed cannabis plantations valued at approximately 4.5 crore.
The joint operation was led by Excise Superintendent Arun Kumar Padhi and Baipariguda Police OIC Dambaru Dhar Batria, with support from excise, police, and forest department teams.
The raids targeted jungles near Kotraguada and Bhatiguada villages under G. Majhiguda Panchayat.
Excise officials uprooted and burned 21,600 cannabis plants spread across 18 acres, while police destroyed 24,000 plants over 20 acres.
The coordinated effort involved excise inspectors, police officers, tahasildar staff, and forest officials.
Authorities noted that Baipariguda block, being remote and Maoist-prone, has long been a hotspot for illegal cannabis cultivation.
Officials confirmed that Operation Green Clean will continue in the coming weeks to curb such plantations and dismantle the illegal trade.
