Koraput: 35 Students Hospitalised After Suspected Food Poisoning at PM Shree School Hostel
Koraput district witnessed a disturbing incident late Monday night when 35 students from Siribeda PM Shree School hostel in Baipariguda block were rushed to the hospital after suffering severe stomach pain.
According to reports, a few hostel residents first complained of abdominal discomfort following dinner. Within hours, several more students developed similar symptoms, triggering panic inside the hostel.
Headmaster Kulamani Jena acted swiftly, arranging three Bolero vehicles to transport the affected children to Baipariguda Hospital.
Medical teams from Baipariguda and Ramgiri also reached the school to examine the remaining students and investigate the suspected food poisoning.
Doctors are closely monitoring the condition of the hospitalised children and conducting tests to determine the cause.
The incident has raised serious concerns about the quality of food served in school hostels, with parents and local residents voicing anxiety over the safety of children staying in such accommodations.
Authorities are expected to review hostel food safety standards and take corrective measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
