KIIT University Hosts National Seminar on Traditional Sports Science and Yoga for Nation Building
Bhubaneswar, November 16, 2025 — The School of Sports and Yogic Sciences at KIIT Deemed to be University, in collaboration with Kreeda Bharati, organised a National Seminar on “Emerging Nation Building through Indian Traditional Sports Science and Yoga” at the Viswanathan Anand International Chess Hall.
The seminar brought together eminent dignitaries, researchers, and academicians from across India to highlight the role of indigenous sports and yoga in shaping national character, empowering youth, and strengthening cultural identity.
Prof. (Dr.) Shyam Sundar Rath, Vice Chancellor of the National Sports University, Imphal, delivered the keynote address, while Sj. Raj Chowdhury, General Secretary of All India Kreeda Bharati, attended as the Chief Guest.
Other dignitaries included Sri Damodar Pradhani and Dr Ashok Kumar Nayak.
Speakers emphasised that resilience, discipline, mental wellness, and social harmony—core elements of nation building—are deeply rooted in India’s traditional practices.
Drawing references from the Ramayana and Mahabharata, they illustrated how archery, wrestling, endurance training, and meditation shaped ancient leaders and warriors.
The seminar also highlighted the visionary leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT, KISS, and KIMS, is promoting holistic education and world‑class sports infrastructure.
Scholars presented papers on traditional sports science, yogic studies, and physical education, enriching the dialogue with diverse perspectives.
The event concluded with reflections, certificate distribution, and the chanting of the Shanti Mantra, reaffirming KIIT’s role as a national leader in sports education and yogic research.
