Keonjhar Pipeline Tragedy: Worker Dies in Soil Collapse During Welding Work

Keonjhar — A tragic accident claimed the life of a worker in Hesabeda village under Bamebari Police Station on Friday evening, when a soil collapse occurred during pipeline welding operations for a private company.

The worker was reportedly working at a depth of 7–8 feet when the surrounding soil gave way, burying him under debris.

Emergency responders rushed the victim to Tata Steel Hospital in Joda, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Authorities have yet to confirm the identity of the deceased. Inspector-in-Charge JK Bhoi of Bamebari Police Station stated that an unnatural death case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the collapse.

The incident has raised concerns over workplace safety protocols at infrastructure sites in the region.
