Keonjhar Hostel Accident: Class-III Tribal Girl Dies, Parents Blame Negligence
Keonjhar, Odisha – A Class-III tribal student, Tejaswini Nayak, lost her life after slipping in the washroom of Bhimakand Government Nodal Upper Primary School hostel under Telkoi police limits.
According to reports, Tejaswini, the daughter of Ganeshwar Nayak from Kuladera village, sustained a severe head injury after the fall.
She was rushed to Telkoi Hospital in critical condition, but doctors declared her dead shortly after admission.
The school administration termed the incident an accident. However, Tejaswini’s parents alleged negligence by hostel authorities, claiming poor supervision and lack of safety measures led to their daughter’s death.
Police have registered a complaint and initiated an investigation to determine responsibility.
The incident has sparked concerns over hostel safety standards in Odisha, particularly in tribal-dominated regions where children rely on government-run facilities for education and accommodation.
