Keonjhar, July 20,(OT Webdesk): In a sweeping operation across three districts, Odisha Vigilance officers raided seven properties linked to Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Nityananda Nayak, uncovering assets that starkly exceed his known sources of income.
The raids—conducted simultaneously in Keonjhar, Angul, and Nayagarh—revealed a staggering 115 land plots, including holdings in Nayak’s name and those of his wife, sons, and daughter.
Authorities also seized Rs 1.19 lakh in cash, two luxury four-wheelers, and four two-wheelers during the operation.
Search warrants were executed at multiple locations, including Nayak’s official residence in Keonjhar, his ancestral home and other properties in Angul, and family residences in Nayagarh.
The probe also extended to bank accounts and other assets, now under scrutiny.
Nayak, who began his career in 1992, is alleged to have accumulated these assets up until 2024.
The investigation, led by 3 DSPs and 10 Inspectors, has triggered widespread concern over corruption in Odisha’s public service.
Officials continue verifying the legitimacy of Nayak’s holdings, with more revelations expected.
