Keonjhar administration tightens control on street food amid rising diarrhea cases: Ban from June 22 to 28

Keonjhar, Odisha, June 21, 2025 — With the rise in diarrhea cases across Keonjhar district, the administration has taken serious steps to prevent further spread. A week-long ban has been enforced on the roadside sale of snacks, gupchup, fast food, and biryani from June 22 to June 28.

Acting on district-level instructions, both Joda and Barbil municipalities have jointly implemented the order. Municipal teams are using loudspeakers to spread awareness among residents, while also inspecting food stalls and hotels for hygiene standards. Wherever poor cleanliness is observed, vendors are being told to shut down their shops.

Authorities have made it clear that any vendor found selling open food during the restricted period will face legal action. This measure aims to safeguard public health and stop the outbreak from becoming more serious.

Many residents have appreciated the swift response, calling it a timely step to ensure community safety and hygiene.
