
Kendu Leaf DFO Nityananda Nayak Arrested for Possessing Disproportionate Assets
Keonjhar(OT Webdesk): Odisha Vigilance has arrested Nityananda Nayak, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of the Kendu Leaf Division, Keonjhar, for possessing disproportionate assets (DA) vastly exceeding his known sources of income.
During a two-day raid, officials uncovered a concealed farmhouse in Chhendipada, Angul, spread over 1.50 acres.
The property includes a 1432 sqft outhouse, a 314 sqft secondary structure, a pond valued at Rs 30 lakhs, two borewells, a well, and plantations of coconut, banana, and mango trees.
The breakthrough came from a diary recovered at Nayak’s Keonjhar residence, which detailed financial records linked to the hidden property. This led to a broader investigation that revealed:
- A 9000 sqft multi-storeyed building in Angul
- 115 land plots
- Rs 10.25 lakh in cash
- Bank deposits exceeding Rs 50.38 lakh
- 200 grams of gold
- Two four-wheelers
A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act (Case No. 6/2025) at Balasore Vigilance PS.
Nayak will be produced before the Special Judge, Vigilance, Keonjhar. Further asset evaluations and legal proceedings are underway.
