Kendrapara Woman BDO Attack: Collector Orders Probe, FIR Filed Amid Political Uproar

A shocking incident unfolded in Kendrapara district when Rajnagar Block Development Officer (BDO) Tilottama Prusty faced abuse and an attempted attack inside her office.

On Friday afternoon, BJP leader Lalit Behera, a 2024 Assembly candidate, allegedly stormed into her chamber with 20–30 supporters, pressuring her to approve irregular bills and sanction unauthorised works.

Prusty firmly refused, insisting that government rules would guide her actions. Heated arguments followed, during which Behera reportedly hurled abusive language and attempted to throw her laptop.

Staff members intervened, forcing the group to leave. The entire episode was captured on CCTV.

The Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) Association condemned the incident and lodged a complaint.

Kendrapara Collector ordered an immediate probe and discussed enhanced security measures with the Superintendent of Police. Rajnagar Block Chairperson Pratibha Patra also filed an FIR against the accused.

Meanwhile, BJD workers staged protests demanding justice for the woman officer, even blocking the Deputy Chief Minister’s convoy to press their demand.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage, highlighting tensions between administrative officers and political leaders over governance and accountability.
