Kendrapara School Sexual Assault Case Sparks Outrage
Kendrapara, Odisha – In a shocking incident that has shaken the community, five staff members of Oxford English Medium School in Olavar, Kendrapara district, were arrested for the repeated sexual assault of a 12‑year‑old student.
The seventh‑grade girl revealed the abuse to her family on January 14, 2026, leading to a formal complaint on February 21.
Within hours, police arrested the accused: teachers Chandan Kumar Prusty (37), Biswa Ranjan Sahoo (31), Rashmi Kanta Biswal (47), Minati Bai (34), and peon Rashmi Ranjan Rana (32).
Authorities have registered cases under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, including charges of rape, gang rape, intimidation, and child sexual exploitation.
The investigation is being conducted under the Swift Trial Initiative (STI) to ensure expedited justice.
Police officials acted swiftly, dispatching forensic teams and arranging medical examinations for the victim in a child‑friendly environment. Senior officers, including the Kendrapara SP, are directly supervising the probe.
The arrests have triggered widespread outrage, with large crowds gathering at the police station demanding strict punishment.
The case has reignited concerns about child safety in educational institutions and the urgent need for stronger protective measures.
