Kandhamal Forest Raid Exposes Maoist Gun Unit
Kandhamal, Odisha: Security forces have unearthed a country‑made gun repair and manufacturing unit during a combing operation near Panaspadar village under Brahmanigaon police limits.
Two firearms and weapon‑making equipment were seized from the site.
While no Maoist operatives were found and no arrests were made, authorities suspect the involvement of Maoist cadres led by Shukru, a state committee member of the KKBM Mao division.
Joint teams of BSF, CRPF, DVF, and other forces are intensifying operations across Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, and Rayagada districts.
The Kandhamal SP is supervising the drive, with a clear target: to make Kandhamal Maoist‑free by March 31, 2026, with special focus on the Darangbadi region along the Kandhamal‑Ganjam border.
This discovery marks a significant step in Odisha’s ongoing battle against Maoist insurgency and illegal arms activity.
