Kandhamal Ex-Headmaster and VEC President Sentenced for School Fund Misuse

In a significant verdict, the Special Judge, Vigilance, Phulbani, has sentenced former Tuakula NPS headmaster Ramesh Chandra Nayak and ex-Village Education Committee president Dhruba Charan Majhi to four years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 20,000 each.

The duo was convicted under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for misappropriating government funds allocated to construct a new primary school at Tuakula.

Following the judgment, both convicts were taken into custody.

Nayak, who is currently serving as an assistant teacher at Sadengi PUPS in Kandhamal district, faces dismissal proceedings initiated by Odisha Vigilance.

The case underscores the vigilance department’s continued crackdown on corruption in the education sector, highlighting the importance of accountability in public service.
