Kalahandi Migrant Worker Trapped in Andhra Pradesh for 10 Months, Family Appeals for Rescue

A 26‑year‑old migrant worker from Kalei village in Junagarh block of Kalahandi district has been trapped in Andhra Pradesh for nearly ten months under exploitative conditions.

Narendra Naik migrated to Vijayawada in March 2025 after being promised higher wages by a labour agent.

However, the agent abandoned him, leaving him under the control of a local sardar who forced him into unpaid fishing work near the Pehena river. Narendra has been working from early morning until late evening with little food and no wages.

Despite repeated phone calls to his family pleading for rescue, no action has been taken. His father, Ashwini Naik, has approached the Kalahandi District Collector, Labour Department, Junagarh Police Station, and Dharamgarh Sub‑Collector, but officials have yet to intervene.

The case highlights the plight of migrant workers who are lured with false promises and end up in bonded labour situations. Narendra’s family continues to hope for urgent government intervention to bring him home.
