Kalahandi Forester Arrested: Vigilance Seizes Crores in Assets
Odisha Vigilance has arrested Bhagabat Bhusan Behera, Forester of Bhatangpadar Forest Section under Bhawanipatna Forest Range in Kalahandi district, for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The case, registered as DA Case No. 02/2026 by the Koraput Vigilance Police, revealed extensive properties and valuables linked to Behera.
Officials seized a newly constructed multi‑storeyed building, nine high‑value plots, gold weighing approximately 470 grams, and bank deposits worth Rs 34.08 lakhs.
Investigators also identified several benami assets, including two Kubota harvester machines, four tractors, one Ashok Leyland tipper, one BharatBenz Hyva, one Bolero, and one Toyota car.
Behera will be produced before the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna.
Vigilance authorities continue probing to trace the full extent of his disproportionate assets and identify possible accomplices.
