K Balang Police Uncover Iron Ore Robbery Worth Rs. 10 Lakhs Under DDM Koira Jurisdiction

Barbil (Rasanand Behera) Mar 26: K Balang Police in Sundargarh district have arrested four individuals in a significant iron ore robbery case under the jurisdiction of the Deputy Director of Mines (DDM), Koira. The stolen iron ore, estimated to be worth Rs. 10 lakhs, had been lying idle since 2019 at Rangra near a weighbridge.

The robbery occurred on the night of March 22-23, 2025, when 10-15 culprits entered the premises with four trucks and a JCB. They threatened the security staff with weapons and loaded the ore onto the vehicles. While three trucks escaped, one broke down and was abandoned at the site. The police detained the driver of the stranded truck, leading to the arrest of three other suspects.

The informant, Shravan Pradhan, who oversees Mata Dadhimati Metals and Minerals at Renjeda railway siding, reported the incident to K Balang Police. He described how the stolen iron ore had been awaiting dispatch clearance from the DDM Koira since 2019. K Balang Police have seized four loaded trucks and are verifying the details of the abandoned truck to uncover more leads.

Officer-in-charge A.K. Behera stated that investigations are ongoing to trace the remaining culprits and recover the stolen materials. This case highlights K Balang Police’s swift and effective action in preventing the theft of public resources. Further updates are awaited as inquiries continue.
