Puri, (OT Webdesk) – May 18, 2025. In a shocking development, popular YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra has been arrested in Haryana on charges of espionage, allegedly spying for Pakistan.
The arrest has triggered a nationwide security investigation, with authorities closely examining her activities and connections.
The Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Puri Police have now questioned local content creator Priyanka Senapti regarding her possible links to Malhotra.
According to sources, Malhotra had visited Puri in September 2024, where she filmed and photographed sensitive locations, including the revered Jagannath Temple and government installations.
Authorities fear these visuals may contain classified information and are investigating whether Malhotra shared them with foreign intelligence handlers.
Investigators also suspect she may have used advanced digital tools to discreetly collect and transmit strategic data.
Priyanka Senapti, who was seen associating with Malhotra during her Odisha visit, has denied any involvement in espionage.
In a statement posted on social media, she said: “Jyoti was just a friend I met through YouTube. I had no knowledge of her activities.
I am personally shocked and am cooperating fully with investigators.”
Security officials emphasise that this case highlights the increasing use of digital platforms for espionage, necessitating stricter surveillance measures on influencers and content creators.
As investigations continue, authorities remain on high alert for potential additional arrests and undisclosed networks linked to Malhotra.
