Justice Satrughana Pujahari Appointed Chairperson of Odisha Human Rights Commission
Bhubaneswar: Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati has appointed Justice Satrughana Pujahari as the new Chairperson of the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC).
The Law Department issued the official notification, confirming that his appointment will take effect once he assumes office.
Justice Pujahari began his judicial career in 2003 as Second Additional District and Sessions Judge in Ganjam (Berhampur).
Over the years, he served in multiple districts, including Koraput (Jeypore), Ganjam (Berhampur), Puri, and Cuttack, holding key positions such as Chairman of the Sales Tax Tribunal, Member Secretary of the Odisha State Legal Services Authority, and Principal Secretary of the Law Department.
Elevated as an Additional Judge of the Orissa High Court in 2013, he became a Permanent Judge in 2014.
He was later transferred to the Madras High Court in 2017 before being repatriated to the Orissa High Court in 2018.
Justice Pujahari’s appointment as OHRC Chairperson marks a significant step in strengthening the state’s human rights framework, bringing his extensive judicial experience to the commission’s leadership.
