Jharsuguda two Criminals Arrested with Illegal Weapons

Jharsuguda — In a decisive crackdown on criminal activity, Brajrajnagar police arrested two notorious offenders during a targeted operation near Orient Paper Mill Colony.

Acting on a tip-off about illegal arms dealings, a team led by SI M. Panigrahi detained Akshay Namdeo (27) and Swapna Rohidas (32), both residents of Brajrajnagar.

Upon interrogation and personal search, police recovered a 7.6 mm country-made pistol from Namdeo and a large, sharp knife from Rohidas.

Both weapons were confirmed to be illegal, and the accused were produced in court earlier today, according to SDPO Chintamani Pradhan.

Namdeo has a history of 14 criminal cases—4 in Brajrajnagar and 10 in Orient police station—while Rohidas is linked to 4 cases across Brajrajnagar, Lakhanpur, and Banharpali jurisdictions.

This operation underscores the district police’s ongoing efforts to curb illegal arms circulation and reinforce public safety.
