Jharsuguda: Armed Dacoits Loot Cash and Gold from Village Couple
In a shocking incident at Talamunda village under Laikera police station limits in Jharsuguda district, five masked dacoits stormed into the home of Prakash Nayak and his wife Jhili Nayak around 1 AM on Monday night.
The intruders tied up the couple, threatened them with swords and guns, and looted valuables worth several lakhs.
The robbers fled with Rs 7 lakh in cash and 150 grams of gold ornaments, including jewellery worn by the victims and stored in a Godrej almirah.
Prakash Nayak sustained sword injuries on both shoulders during the ordeal, while the criminals destroyed the couple’s mobile phones before escaping.
The entire incident lasted about 20 minutes.
Senior police officials, including the Superintendent of Police and SDPO, rushed to the spot. A forensic team has collected fingerprints, footprints, and other evidence.
Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to track down the culprits.
This brazen act of violence has sparked concern among locals, highlighting the need for stronger security measures in rural areas.
