Jeypore Airport Director faces harassment allegations, complaint filed with police

Bhubaneswar, Feb 15: The Director of Jeypore Airport in Koraput district, Commander Abakash Parida, has come under fire after being accused of physical harassment by a female employee. The allegations have sparked outrage, with various organizations demanding a thorough investigation.
According to reports, the female worker lodged a formal complaint with the Jeypore Mahila Police, accusing Parida of inappropriate behavior, including making objectionable remarks and subjecting her to physical harassment.
As per the complaint, the woman was employed as a sweeper at Jeypore Airport 10 months ago through the Road and Housing Department. She took up the job to support her family, as her father is disabled. However, she alleged that she was mentally and physically harassed, forced to work at Parida’s residence, and subjected to verbal abuse, including casteist and racial slurs.
The woman further claimed that Parida made unwanted advances towards her and, upon her refusal, terminated her employment. Unable to bear the ordeal, she sought help from national women’s rights activists, who assisted her in filing a police complaint.
Meanwhile, Commander Parida has strongly refuted the accusations, calling them baseless and fabricated. The police are currently investigating the matter.
