Jay Dholakia Sworn In as Nuapada MLA, Carries Forward Father’s Legacy
Nuapada: Jay Dholakia, the newly elected BJP MLA from Nuapada, was sworn in today as a member of the Odisha Legislative Assembly.
The oath of office and secrecy was administered by Speaker Surama Padhy in her chamber, in the presence of Dholakia’s mother, wife, and senior BJP leaders.
Dholakia’s victory in the Nuapada bypoll was emphatic, securing 1,23,869 votes and defeating Congress candidate Ghasiram Majhi, who polled 40,121 votes.
BJD’s Snehnagini Chhuria finished third with 38,408 votes. The by-election, held on November 11 and declared on November 14, was necessitated by the passing of four-time MLA Rajendra Dholakia, Jay’s father, on September 8.
Party leaders and supporters hailed the win as a decisive step for development in Nuapada.
The swearing-in ceremony symbolised continuity of leadership and renewed energy in representing the constituency, with Dholakia’s victory seen as both a tribute to his father’s legacy and a strengthening of the BJP’s presence in western Odisha.
