Janhvi Kapoor to Star in Remake of Sridevi’s Iconic Film ‘ChaalBaaz’

In a heartfelt tribute to her late mother, legendary actress Sridevi, Janhvi Kapoor is set to take on the lead role in the remake of the 1989 cult classic ChaalBaaz.

The original film, directed by Pankaj Parashar, featured Sridevi in a double role and became one of the most celebrated performances of her career.

Producer Boney Kapoor, Sridevi’s husband and Janhvi’s father, has confirmed plans to develop ChaalBaaz 2, with Janhvi as the central character.

Kapoor emphasised the challenge of remaking such a beloved film, noting that the storyline will be modernised to resonate with today’s audience while preserving the essence of the original.

Janhvi, who has expressed deep admiration for her mother’s work, is reportedly enthusiastic about the opportunity. Talks are underway with multiple producers, and Boney Kapoor himself is actively involved in shaping the project.

The original ChaalBaaz starred Sridevi alongside Rajinikanth and Sunny Deol, and its blend of comedy, drama, and action made it a box office hit. While previous rumours linked Shraddha Kapoor to a potential remake, this new development brings the project closer to reality with a personal legacy at its core.
