Jamia Millia Islamia approves opening of B.Ed. & M.A. Education Learning Support Centre at Odisha

Bhubaneshwar, Feb 15 (UNI) In a significant step towards strengthening teacher education in Odisha, Jamia Millia Islamia has approved the opening of a B.Ed. and M.A. (Education) Learning Support Centre (LSC) at Odisha State Open University (OSOU), Sambalpur.

To support aspiring B.Ed. candidates of Odisha and enhance access to quality teacher education, OSOU approached Jamia Millia Islamia for academic collaboration.

The approval of the LSC will provide much-needed opportunities for students across the state to pursue B.Ed. and M.A. (Education) programmes through a reputed Central University.

Until OSOU receives its independent approval to offer B.Ed. programmes, this academic handholding initiative will greatly benefit teacher aspirants by ensuring access to quality curriculum, academic guidance, and institutional support.

The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to expanding inclusive and high-standard teacher education in Odisha.

On this occasion, Prof. M. Moshahid Ahamed Rizvi, Dean, Centre for Distance and Online Learning (CDOL), Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, graced the programme.

He was joined by Prof. Shyam Sundar Pattnaik, Vice-Chancellor, OSOU; Dr. Chittaranjan Sahu, Registrar, OSOU; Prof. Altaf Khan, Director of School, OSOU; Prof. (Dr.) Garuda Dhwaja Barik, Principal, Dr. PMIASE, Sambalpur; Dr. Srikanta Paikray, Retired Principal, Berhampur; and Dr. Brundaban Meher, Assistant Professor, Dr. PMIASE, Sambalpur, along with other senior officials and faculty members of OSOU.

The initiative is expected to open new academic pathways for aspiring teachers in Odisha and contribute significantly to strengthening the state’s educational ecosystem.
