Jajpur Road Shootout: Two Arrested Over Train Ticket Refund Dispute
Jajpur Road, October 16, 2025. In a shocking turn of events on Wednesday evening, a heated dispute over a train ticket refund escalated into gunfire at a crowded travel counter on Jajpur Road.
Police have arrested two suspects — Micheal Santosh (22) of Purvakot village and Santosh Pradhan (23) of Mundamal — in connection with the shooting.
According to Jajpur SP Yashpratap Srimal, the duo has prior criminal links to Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Acting on CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts, police tracked the suspects to Pradhan’s sister’s residence, where they were arrested without resistance.
Authorities recovered a pistol, four live bullets, a numberless motorcycle, and a mobile phone. The case has been registered under Sections 25/27 of the Arms Act and multiple IPC sections, including 296, 351(3), 308, and 109/3(5).
The incident occurred at the ticket counter owned by Debdatta Panda, who was reportedly confronted by Santosh over a delayed refund. In a fit of rage, Santosh allegedly fired shots before fleeing with Pradhan.
This shooting adds to growing concerns over rising crime in Bhusandpur (formerly Amravati), a town rapidly industrialising but increasingly plagued by criminal activity. Recent months have seen gold shop heists, daily chain-snatching, two murders, and rampant drug peddling.
SP Srimal commended the swift action of Jajpur Road police and the SDPO, emphasising the importance of rapid response in curbing urban crime.
