Jagatsinghpur Police Raid: Four Foreign Nationals Detained, Weapons Seized
Jagatsinghpur police carried out a major midnight raid at Beheram Basti near Tarikunda under Sadar Police Station, detaining four suspected foreign nationals and recovering a cache of weapons.
The operation, launched late Sunday night following specific intelligence inputs, uncovered a country‑made revolver, machetes, metal cutters, and several sharp weapons from a rented house allegedly built without authorisation.
The raid met resistance, leaving Additional Superintendent of Police Satyabrata Das and two constables injured. Despite the confrontation, police secured the settlement with the presence of an Executive Magistrate.
The primary accused, Sikandar Alam alias Siku, escaped moments before the raid and remains absconding. Authorities confirmed that Alam had been under surveillance for sheltering foreign nationals in illegal structures.
Residents reported that unauthorised houses had been constructed over the past four years, often linked to suspicious activities and recurring discoveries of weapons.
Locals expressed relief at the police action but urged authorities to demolish illegal structures to restore safety in the area.
Three platoons of police forces have been deployed as searches continue, with verification of the seized weapons underway. Officials assured further updates as the investigation progresses.
