
Indian Railways To Restores Odisha Train Stoppages from September 1 | Vande Bharat Expansion
In a major boost to regional connectivity, Indian Railways has announced the restoration of train stoppages at several stations across Odisha and neighbouring states, effective September 1, 2025.
The move comes in response to persistent public demand and appeals from local representatives seeking improved access to rail services in smaller towns.
Phased Rollout of Stoppages:
From September 1:
- Puri–Shalimar Dhauli Express to halt at Markona
- Titlagarh–Howrah Ispat Express at Bagdehi
- Jagdalpur–Howrah Express at Bisra and Rajkharsawan Junction
- Gunupur–Rourkela Rajyarani Express at Bagdehi
- Puri–Yog Nagari Rishikesh Utkal Express at Basta and Bisra
From September 2:
- Puri–Shalimar Sri Jagannath Express at Rupsa Junction
- Puri–Patna Baidyanathdham Express at Burnpur
From September 5 & 7:
- Visakhapatnam–Digha Express and Puri–Digha Express to stop at Jaleswar
The East Coast Railway (ECoR) has advised passengers to check updated schedules as the new stoppages will be gradually reflected in online booking systems.
Vande Bharat Expansion:
In a separate development, the Rourkela–Howrah Vande Bharat Express will be upgraded from 8 to 16 coaches to accommodate rising passenger demand.
This strategic move is expected to enhance last-mile connectivity and ease travel for thousands across the region.
