India Women Stun Australia by 21 Runs in Rain‑Hit Sydney T20I

Sydney, Feb 15: India Women made a strong start to their three‑match T20I series against Australia, clinching a 21‑run victory via the DLS method at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Arundhati Reddy was the star of the night, producing career‑best figures of 4/22 to dismantle Australia’s batting lineup.

Supported by Renuka Singh Thakur (2/14) and Shree Charani (2/14), India bowled out the hosts for 133 in 18 overs.

Harmanpreet Kaur’s sharp catches and Richa Ghosh’s stumping added to the team’s disciplined fielding effort.

Australia briefly threatened through a 41‑run stand between Ellyse Perry and Phoebe Litchfield, but regular wickets kept them in check.

In reply, India raced to 50/1 in just 5.1 overs, with Shafali Verma smashing 21 off 11 balls. Rain halted play, but India were comfortably ahead of the DLS par score of 29, sealing the win.

With this result, India leads the series 1‑0. Arundhati Reddy was named Player of the Match and credited the team’s adaptability for the victory.

The second T20I will be played at Manuka Oval, Canberra, on February 20.
