India Closes 32 Airports Amid Pakistan Drone Strikes – Travel Advisory Updates

India-Pakistan airport closures

(OT Webdesk) In a significant move, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has ordered the temporary closure of 32 Indian airports until May 15, 2025, at 05:29 IST, following an uptick in Pakistan-led drone and missile strikes targeting Indian military facilities.

The escalation has triggered heightened security measures across major civilian aviation hubs.

The affected airports include Amritsar, Jammu, Chandigarh, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Rajkot, and several others. Authorities have enforced secondary security screenings for all passengers and barred visitor entry at terminals to minimize risks.

Leading airlines such as IndiGo and Air India have responded swiftly, rolling out flexible rebooking options and waiving cancellation fees for affected passengers until May 22, 2025.

Pakistan launched another wave of missile and drone attacks, leading to structural damage in Jammu and Poonch, including religious sites. In retaliation, India initiated “Operation Sindoor”, targeting terror strongholds in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (Pojk), dealing substantial blows to militant infrastructure.

As regional tensions escalate, global leaders have urged both nations to seek diplomatic solutions to avoid further conflict.
