Impending cyclone Montha prompts ECoR to cancel 32 trains passing through Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Oct 27 (UNI) With the deep depression intensifying into a cyclonic storm Montha, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) today announced the cancellation of as many as 32 passenger trains besides diverting and short-terminating several coaching trains operating in the Waltair region and connected routes, said ECoR officials.

These measures are purely precautionary, based on alerts and forecasts issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), they said.

Besides, Train No. 18189 Tatanagar–Ernakulam Express, leaving Tatanagar on October 28 , will be diverted via Titlagarh Jn.–Lakholi–Raipur–Nagpur–Balharshah stations.

Further Train No. 18447 Bhubaneswar–Jagdalpur Hirakhand Express leaving Bhubaneswar on October 27 will be short terminated at Rayagada. Train No. 18107 Rourkela–Jagdalpur Intercity Express leaving Rourkela on 27.10.2025 will also be short terminated at Rayagada.

To tackle the situation arising out of the impending cyclone, round-the-clock monitoring and activation of Emergency Control is being done at all Divisional Headquarters. Continuous coordination with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for real-time updates is also being done.

Besides, restoration teams are ready at important stations for immediate response. Relief materials kept ready at vulnerable locations. Additional staffs are being deployed at key locations for operational and passenger support. Food, water, and shelters are being arranged at major stations for stranded passengers.

Additional counters are opened for refund and Help desks are also operated at important locations. Passengers are advised to check the latest train running updates through the National Train Enquiry System (NTES), IRCTC website/app, or contact the nearest Railway Helpline before starting their journey, ECoR added.
