Bhubaneswar, Dec 31: As the year 2024 comes to a close, coastal districts of Odisha were unable to witness the last sunrise of the year due to thick, low-hanging clouds. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast indicating a further dip in night temperatures across the state over the next two days.
The minimum temperature is expected to fall by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius during this period, with no significant changes anticipated thereafter.
In addition to the drop in temperature, the IMD has issued a warning for dense fog in one or two locations, particularly in the districts of Kandhamal, Angul, and Koraput, lasting until Wednesday morning.
Shallow to moderate fog is also expected to affect several other regions, including Kalahandi, Balangir, Sonepur, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, and Nayagarh. Residents in these areas are advised to exercise caution while traveling due to reduced visibility. The combination of fog and cooler temperatures marks a typical winter pattern for the region, impacting daily life and transportation.
