Bhubaneswar, (Orissa Today) May 12: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), based in Bhubaneswar, has issued a yellow warning for rainfall in Odisha over the next five days. According to the forecast, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface winds reaching speeds of 30-40 KMPH are expected.

Day 1 (Valid until 8:30 AM on 13.05.2024):
YELLOW WARNING: Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface winds reaching 30-40 KMPH likely at one or two places in the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj. Additionally, heavy rainfall is expected at one or two places in the districts of Rayagada, Koraput, Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, and Bhadrak.
Day 2 (Valid from 8:30 AM on 13.05.2024 to 8:30 AM on 14.05.2024):
YELLOW WARNING: Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface winds reaching 40-50 KMPH expected at one or two places in the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati. Additionally, heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in the districts of Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Kendrapara, Jajpur, and Bhadrak. Thunderstorms with lightning are also expected at one or two places in the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, and Malkangiri.
