IMD Issues Thunderstorm Alert for 10 Odisha Districts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and light rain in ten districts of Odisha.

The alert, released at 8:30 am, is valid for the next three hours and covers Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Balasore.

Residents in these districts have been advised to remain cautious and seek shelter to avoid lightning strikes.

Authorities have urged people to avoid open fields, tall trees, and water bodies during the warning period.

In addition to the thunderstorm alert, IMD has forecast a gradual rise in night temperatures by 2–3°C over the next 48 hours, which could result in warmer nights across the state.

Officials are closely monitoring the situation and will continue to provide updates to ensure public safety.
