Bhubaneswar(OT Webdesk): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Warning for Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts, forecasting extremely heavy rainfall on Friday, July 25, as a cyclonic circulation over the northern Bay of Bengal intensifies into a low-pressure area.
An Orange Alert has been sounded for Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Koraput, and Malkangiri on Thursday, with heavy to very heavy rainfall expected.
Additionally, 15 districts including Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, and Jajpur are under Yellow Warning for thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds.
Rainfall is likely to persist across Odisha till July 27, with isolated intense showers predicted in both northern and southern regions.
The IMD has advised fishermen to avoid venturing into the sea from July 24 to 27 due to rough conditions.
State authorities have urged residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas to remain vigilant and follow safety advisories.
