IMD forecasts heavy rainfall and thunderstorms across Odisha

Bhubaneswar, (Orissa Today), May 16: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall in one or two locations in Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, and Kandhamal districts on Thursday.
These areas are also expected to experience thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph. Similar weather warnings have been issued for several other districts including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, and others.

Furthermore, the IMD forecasts light to moderate rain or thundershowers in some parts of South Odisha and a few spots in North Odisha.

On May 17, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are anticipated in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, and several other districts. A yellow warning has been issued for thunderstorms with lightning in Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, and other districts over the next 24 hours (May 18).

Heatwave conditions may return to Odisha on May 19, with a yellow warning issued for districts including Nuapada, Balangir, Bargarh, and others. Thunderstorms with lightning are also likely in certain areas.
The heatwave is expected to persist in some areas on May 20, with thunderstorms predicted in Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, and other districts.
