Illegal Cattle Smuggling Foiled in Sambalpur | Over 35 Cattle Rescued, Two Arrested

Sambalpur police, with the help of locals and Bajrang Dal activists, intercepted a container truck illegally transporting cattle near Bhimabhoi Square in Redhakhol town on Saturday morning.

The operation led to the rescue of more than 35 cattle and the arrest of two smugglers, identified as Salim Khan and Mohammad Salim.

The truck was reportedly moving cattle from Begunia to Kharagpur.

Witnesses said the driver fled after locking the steering, but locals managed to catch the helper and hand him over to the police.

Later, another smuggler was discovered hiding among the animals inside the container.

Authorities confirmed that the rescued cattle were in poor condition and required immediate care.

They were shifted to the Vaishnavjhuli cowshed for shelter. Police further revealed that Afak Khan is the main accused behind the smuggling racket.

Officials assured that strict action will follow against those involved, as investigations into the illegal trade continue.
