IIT Bhubaneswar Welcomes Global South Diplomats to Foster Innovation and Collaboration

Bhubaneswar, September 13,  — In a vibrant display of international cooperation, IIT Bhubaneswar hosted a delegation of 39 young diplomats from 39 countries as part of the 3rd Special Course for the Global South Young Diplomats Forum (GSYDF).

Organized by the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (SSIFS), the initiative aims to deepen ties among developing nations through academic and cultural immersion.

The visit showcased India’s commitment to amplifying the voice of the Global South, following the momentum of the Voice of the Global South Summit.

Professor Shreepad Karmalkar, Director of IIT Bhubaneswar, welcomed the delegates with a presentation highlighting the institute’s research strengths and global vision.

Diplomats engaged in dynamic discussions with faculty members, exploring avenues for academic and research partnerships.

They toured cutting-edge facilities, including the Silicon Carbide Research and Incubation Centre, Robotics Laboratory, and the Research and Entrepreneurship Park—underscoring IIT Bhubaneswar’s leadership in science, technology, and sustainable innovation.

Representatives from SSIFS, including Dean Raj Kumar Srivastava, Dr. Amrita Banerjee, and Dr. Sama Haq, accompanied the delegation.

The event was coordinated by Professor Ashis Biswas and Registrar Bamadev Acharya, with support from senior faculty and staff.

This visit marks a significant step in India’s diplomatic outreach, blending education, innovation, and global solidarity.
