Bhubaneswar, 11th June (OT Webdesk): Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) celebrated the 11th anniversary of its Traffic Training Park in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, in the esteemed presence of Sanat Kumar Jena (RTO-II, Bhubaneswar) and representatives from HMSI. Since its establishment, the park has played an essential role in promoting road safety and enhancing traffic awareness among citizens.
In June 2014, HMSI, in collaboration with the Odisha Motor Vehicle Department, inaugurated the first adopted traffic training park in the state, located in the capital city of Bhubaneswar. Since its inception, the park has become a hub for road safety education, training over 360,000 individuals across all age groups. The initiative combines awareness sessions with practical riding exercises to help individuals become safer and more vigilant road users.
To celebrate the 11th anniversary, HMSI hosted a special session for students at the Central Tool Room & Training Centre. This session focused on key aspects of riding discipline and how to identify everyday road risks—crucial elements in instilling road safety awareness. The Traffic Training Park continues to provide hands-on learning experiences that encourage responsible behaviour on the road.
As the Traffic Training Park in Bhubaneswar enters its 12th year, the emphasis remains on fostering a culture of safety that continues to grow stronger. The aim is not only to increase participation but also to deepen the quality of engagement, particularly among the next generation of road users. HMSI seeks to make road safety education accessible and engaging, with the hope of transforming awareness into everyday actions, ensuring that safe riding becomes second nature for commuters in Bhubaneswar and beyond.
HMSI’s Commitment to Road Safety
Globally, road safety is a top priority for Honda. In April 2021, the company announced its goal to achieve zero traffic collision fatalities involving Honda motorcycles and automobiles worldwide by 2050. Since its establishment in India in 2001, HMSI has been dedicated to promoting road safety as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR). Today, the company’s road safety awareness initiatives have reached over 10 million Indians. A team of skilled safety instructors conducts daily programs at HMSI’s 10 adopted traffic parks and six Safety Driving Education Centres (SDEC) across India.
HMSI dealerships throughout the country also play a role in spreading road safety awareness. The company’s proprietary virtual riding simulator enhances riders’ risk prediction abilities. Additionally, all new customers receive pre-delivery safety advice (PDSA) before they begin riding at HMSI dealerships nationwide.
HMSI has also launched an innovative digital road safety learning platform called E-Gurukul. This platform offers training modules tailored for three specific age groups, ranging from 5 to 18 years, ensuring a comprehensive approach to road safety. The modules are available in multiple languages, including Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and English, to ensure inclusivity and regional relevance.
E-Gurukul can be accessed at [egurukul.honda.hmsi.in](http://egurukul.honda.hmsi.in) and supports live streaming or downloading, along with multilingual modules to enhance accessibility across diverse regions. This initiative is part of HMSI’s ongoing efforts to empower children, educators, and dealers to promote safe road practices.
The program aims to expand to cover schools in every state, offering road safety education tailored to different age groups.
