Hindol Sub-Treasury Clerk Arrested for Rs 68.85 Lakh Misappropriation
Odisha Vigilance officials have arrested Manoranjan Sahoo, an ex-Senior Clerk of the Hindol Sub-Treasury, for allegedly misappropriating government funds amounting to Rs 68.85 lakh.
Investigations revealed that Sahoo fraudulently drew funds intended for family pension holders and diverted the money into his own and his relatives’ bank accounts.
The accused had been absconding for nearly two years to evade Vigilance action before being apprehended late last night.
A case has been registered under Cuttack Vigilance PS Case No. 32/2024, and Sahoo is being forwarded to the Special Judge, Vigilance Court in Dhenkanal under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act (PC Act).
Officials confirmed that further investigation is underway to trace the full extent of the financial irregularities and identify possible accomplices.
This arrest underscores Odisha Vigilance’s continued crackdown on corruption within government institutions, aiming to safeguard public funds and restore trust in administrative systems.
