Hindalco MD Reviews CSR in Kiripsira, Unveils Handloom Centre for Women
Bhubaneswar, 17 October: Mr. Satish Pai, Managing Director of Hindalco Industries Ltd. (part of the Aditya Birla Group), visited the Meenakshi Coal Mines to review ongoing operations and community development initiatives.
During his visit, he assessed various CSR activities being implemented by the company in the Kiripsira Panchayat, located in the Sundargarh district.
Under Hindalco’s strong commitment to social responsibility, several skill-based livelihood and women empowerment programs have been launched across the region. Mr. Pai reviewed the progress of these initiatives and inaugurated new development projects aimed at enhancing community welfare.
Accompanying him were his spouse, Mrs. Vanvimone Pai; Mr. Kailash Pandey, Business Head of Mines & Sambalpur Cluster; Mr. Bijesh Jha, Head of Bauxite & Coal; and Mr. Krishna Padhi, Cluster Head of Human Resources, among others.
As part of the CSR outreach, Mr. Pai inaugurated a silk fiber handicraft training program to promote self-reliance among local women. He also distributed desk benches to nearby schools to support better learning environments for students and provided school bags to children enrolled in local Anganwadi centers.
Under the company’s “Nikshay” CSR initiative, food kits were distributed to the families of TB patients, further reinforcing Hindalco’s commitment to community health and well-being.
The event was attended by Mrs. Kunti Pradhan, President of Sundargarh Zilla Parishad; Mrs. Rebati Chatria, Sarpanch of Kiripsira Panchayat; and local administrative officials. The entire visit and associated programs were coordinated by Ms. Niharika Sahoo, CSR Head, under the direct supervision of Mr. Mukesh Jha, Unit Head of Meenakshi Coal Mines.
