Heroin Worth Rs 31 Lakh Seized in Cuttack; Two Arrested

Cuttack, October 28, 2025: In a major breakthrough against narcotics trafficking, the Cuttack Excise Department seized heroin valued at approximately Rs 31 lakh during a targeted operation on October 27.

The raid led to the arrest of two individuals—Basudev Das (23) and Saroj Kumar Rout (24)—both residents of Champapur under Byree police station in Jajpur district.

The operation was executed at Tangi Square and Manguli Square under Tangi police station.

Led by Excise Inspector Abani Kumar Mohapatra, the team included Excise SIs Dibyajyoti Satyaprakash and Bibhuti Bhusan Pradhan, ASI Kishore Chandra Rout, and constables Manas Ranjan Behera, Deepak Kumar Sahoo, Biswanath Bhoi, and Ranjan Kumar Patra.

Officials confirmed that the seized contraband was intended for regional distribution, and the arrests mark a significant step in curbing illegal drug networks in Odisha.

The Excise Department reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order and intensifying surveillance across vulnerable zones.
