Heavy Rain Batters Odisha, IMD Issues Yellow Warning Across 11 Districts
Bhubaneswar, August 20 (OT Webdesk): The Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar has forecast widespread rainfall across southern and interior Odisha until August 24, triggered by a low-pressure system.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for 11 districts today, including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj.
Warnings will remain in effect for six districts tomorrow, with isolated areas expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall. Authorities have urged residents to remain indoors during thunderstorms and take necessary precautions.
Meanwhile, districts like Malkangiri, Koraput, and Nabarangpur have reported landslides, submerged roads and bridges, and uprooted trees, severely disrupting daily life.
Coastal regions along Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and West Bengal are also bracing for rough sea conditions. Fishermen have been strictly advised against venturing into the sea during this period.
